Blinding Beauty

Beauty distracts all the senses
which by itself so recompenses
that one for moments can forget
all past imperfect entanglements
as the experience is so dense
no thoughts linger from earlier
about feelings made surlier
because beauty was a trick
adding to spirit another nick
as small wounds upon heart
need protected from deceptions:
maybe only shallow conceptions
of beauty had seemed all right
and later became some blight
by distracting others as well
to this same losing of sense.

It's only momentary recompense.
